The Aston Martin Vantage, one of their most popular vehicle models to date, was introduced in 2005 and continued the theme of gorgeous sports cars. It remained largely unchanged for 13 years before an all-new second generation arrived in 2018.
This Aston-Martin Vantage Service Guide focuses on the first generation of Vantage and serves as a guideline in maintaining your Aston-Martin Vantage to factory recommended specifications.
The Vantage model spawned numerous variations and refreshes throughout it’s long life-span. They all eventually came in both coupe and convertible body styles.
However, there are two core model differences that are highlighted in this Aston Martin Vantage Service Guide; The V8 and the V12 models. They are very similar when it comes to maintenance, but there are some differences that owners need to be mindful of.
This service guide will provide maintenance schedules for both V8 and V12 Aston Martin Vantage models.
Here at Gi Automotive Group we can even install Apple CarPlay or Android Auto for your Aston Martin right here at our shop.

Engine, Oil, Transmission, Clutch
At it’s debut in 2005, the Vantage was only offered with a 4.3L V8. Models produced after 2008 received a revised 4.7L V8 and in 2009 they offered the 5.9L V12 Vantage.
All engine choices were offered with either a manual or an automated-manual transmission.
The Aston-Martin Vantage Service Guide recommends the oil change and filter replacements to be done every 10,000 miles or once per year (whichever comes first).
It’s absolutely crucial to perform the recommended oil change and filter replacement on your Aston Martin Vantage as oil is one of the most important fluids to keep your engine running smoothly and to reduce breakdown over time.
When taking a closer look at the Aston-Martin Service Guide maintenance schedule, the major services are at about 20,000 mile intervals, with the biggest services at 60,000 and 80,000 miles.
Most of the differences between the V8 and V12 models in terms of maintenance are the frequency of some of the regular maintenance items. The V12 typically has a higher frequency of brake fluid changes given it’s robust V12 which is hard on the brake pads, rotors and brake fluids that ensure your Aston Martin Vantage can stop as it was engineered to do every single time.
The V12 also requires to have it’s air filters replaced every 2 years or 20,000 miles due to the massive V12 engine where as the V8 Aston Martin Vantage only needs it’s engine air filters replaced every 3 years or 30,000 miles.
However, when properly cared for, both engines have proven to be extremely reliable over the last decade of proven results.
Brakes, Rotors, Pads, Fluid
Inspecting and servicing your brake pads, rotors and brake fluid at the proper service interval is crucial in maintaining your Aston-Martin Vantage properly.
Not only is it beneficial to your vehicle’s performance, it is also a fundamental safety component that the Aston-Martin Vantage Service Guide recommends never to be left unchecked during the service intervals.
By their very nature, brakes are wear items that have a varying lifespan that is affected by individual driving habits.
The brakes are conventional steel on the V8 and an optional carbon-ceramic set-up is offered to the owners of the V12. With 4 piston calipers at each corner, the steel brakes are 355 mm up front, while the rears are 330 mm.
NOTE: Use only DOT-4 rated brake fluid to withstand higher temperatures that inferior products cannot withstand.
Tires, Suspension & Alignment
Tires are such a crucial aspect in a vehicle’s overall health and performance that many owners tend to ignore. There are many factors that affect tires; some of them can be controlled, while others are up to mother nature. Inspecting the condition of the tires at every service interval is recommended. Checking the tread wear depth and pattern can determine a lot about other parts of the vehicle.
Original tire size specification for the Aston-Martin Vantage range are as follows:
Alignment can seriously affect both tire wear as well as the handling characteristics of a car. Therefore, it is imperative that the alignment is checked on a regular basis. The Aston-Martin Service Guide recommends checking camber, castor, and toe for tolerances within factory specification, or a custom specification if deemed necessary.
The suspension’s job is to not only keep a comfortable ride, it is also to provide optimal handling characteristics. Properly functioning suspension will keep alignment within specification in a straight line and in the corners. Moreover, this keeps the tires from wearing unevenly. At each service interval, it is recommended to check the suspension components for any squeaks, rattles, leakage or play.
The Aston-Martin Vantage is a gorgeous British sports car that has proved popular worldwide. The proportions, design, sporting intentions and relative rarity make them a highly desirable automobile.
By keeping your mind on maintenance, it will definitely reduce the larger service bills that others who do not properly maintain their vehicles experience with the Aston Martin Vantage!
GI Automotive carries a wide selection of road and track Aston-Martin Vantage tires on stock and available to order. A consultation is available to determine which tire is best for your individual driving needs.
